The Crown Procedure
The process typically takes two appointments over 5–7 days. During the first visit, your dentist prepares the tooth by removing a thin layer of enamel, takes digital impressions, and fits a temporary crown. The permanent crown is fabricated in the lab and cemented at the second visit.
How Long Do Crowns Last?
A well-made crown lasts 10–20 years with proper care. Avoid grinding, maintain good hygiene, and attend regular check-ups. Zirconia crowns tend to be the most durable option.
